White bunny - a sign?

I was strolling through our garden with our dogs when I saw a white ball of fluff hopping around the corner of the house. My heart skipped a beat. Was it what I thought? At once, I swept our chihuahua, Sheila, up under my arms, called our dachshund, Flooi, and headed for the door. I closed the dogs in the house and went to get another look.

As I turned the corner, there it was - the fluffiest white bunny I have ever seen! While I stood gawking at the sweet creature, I heard in my heart, “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date.”
Only One could tell me why I heard those words. I had to chat to Jesus! But first I went back inside and told my husband, Calvin, about our visitor. He knew where the bunny came from – the yard behind us. So he quickly caught the bunny and released it back there. I was sad to see the bunny go, but also relieved. The last thing I wanted was for our dogs to tear the bunny apart. How I would have loved to keep the bunny! But just seeing it was already special. Because I’ve always wanted a white bunny, exactly like that one.

My day got busy, and I forgot about the bunny. Until the next day, when within my sight, the bunny hopped through our front garden, while I was having my quiet time. And then the same words I heard the day before, echoed in my heart.
“Lord Jesus, what are you trying to tell me? What do the bunny and the words mean?”
Jesus answered, “Search it out…”
I googled the words. To my amazement, they were part of a song, sung by the white rabbit in the story ‘Alice in Wonderland’, by Lewis Carroll.
I read through the song lyrics. Two lines, following the words I heard in my heart, appeared highlighted -
“No time to say hello, good-bye,
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.”
Next, I read up a bit about the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland and discovered that he was a herald for the Queen of Hearts. A ‘herald’, I learned, was a royal messenger, a forerunner, or a person that proclaimed or announced.

A message formed in my mind. Already in the Bible’s times, we were told that time was short and that Jesus would return soon. That was two thousand years ago. How much less time do we not have now?

I grabbed my Bible and paged through the books of the New Testament. Finally, I found the scripture I was looking for.
“What I mean, my friends, is this: there is not much time left, and from now on married people should live as though they were not married; those who weep, as though they were not sad; those who laugh, as though they were not happy; those who buy, as though they did not own what they bought; those who deal in material goods, as though they were not fully occupied with them. For this world, as it is now, will not last much longer.”
 (1Co 7:29-31)

At last, I got it. Time was short. I had to stop being so focused on things of this world that will pass away. All of God’s children had to be awake and know the times. And especially those that Jesus called to be messengers, had to proclaim and announce – Jesus is alive, and He is coming back again. Soon.
Father God, thank you that Jesus is coming back again, soon. Father, help us to spend our time wisely and to keep our hearts and minds focused on You. Ignite your messengers’ hearts to continue proclaiming Your message with passion. Wake up those of your children, who are asleep. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
